On TeamSpeak, we have recently been discussing Tekkit.

The only problem is, Tekkit is very CPU intensive, which would lead to a very laggy server, and as well all know, mR doesn't do lag.

There are many people who enjoy Tekkit, however, due to it's intensive actions of peoples CPU they don't spend a lot of time on it. Of course, with an intensive server like this, there would be HUGE restrictions, such as Banning of Nuclear Bombs in IC2, world quantities from Mystcraft, and things such as logic gated from RP2 (When updated) all this has to be taken into consideration with an intensive server like this, especially with such a large community like mR.

Leave your opinion below, and see if we can get mIKe to change his mind.

If Tekkit is as CPU intensive as you say, it sounds like it would require its own box (server hardware) to run whatever game without too much lag.

As it is now, all the games in this community are on the same hardware box.

I don't think it would work without adding hardware.

That is one of the many problems that would be encountered if mIKe were to set one up, plus we'd need a WHOLE bunch of 'staff' to keep our large community in order. Its amazing how much lag someone without basic tekkit knowledge can do with 40 solar panels. Thats why you craft 'em together etc, to save lag (Compact Solars) its simple things like IC2/BC3 addons that help reduce lag. I've offered my Tekkit and mod expertise to mIKe if he does set one up. Whether it be configs, maintenance etc

What's your views? Would you play?

Makes perfect sense to me.

And to be fair, it isn't that Mike doesn't want to run it, it's that we can't run it without throwing more money at our hosts. Which as is right now, not the best option.

I would absolutely play this. fo sho. since of course i can't figure out whats wrong when i host one and i would like to be part of a community of tekkies
