paint.NET for all your image editing needs, and maybe Speedfan. I'm curious as to how warm your Surface Pro gets when gaming :P
Another absolute must is winRAR. I just use the free trial version, so long as you always close the "This is not free software" popup after 40 days, it will never force you to remove it.
