Pretty much. They weren't even RPing it at all, it was just "He's over here!" constantly in teamspeak. I thought it was a joke at first, so I decided to play along. But nope, he was being completely serious. They even wanted to ban my character when they finally caught me.

I didn't think people were being serious.. until the Charban came up, and that's why I stepped in.
